Yes, it’s true, Chanel had another one of their dreaded price increases and just in time for the holidays. Coincidence? I think not. Though an increase hasn’t occurred on Chanel’s classics since 2014, this one was felt around the world and hit the US on November 15th. The percentage of the increase ties to the style bag, but you can see increases anywhere between 6% and 10%! Take a look at some of the styles that felt the jump:   Chanel Medium Classic Flap                       Old Price: $4,900     New Price: $5,400     +$500       +10% Chanel Jumbo Classic Flap                          Old Price: $5,500    New Price: $5,900      +$400         +7% Chanel Maxi Classic Flap                             Old Price: $6,000     New Price: $6,400     +$400        +7%

What does this mean to you? Well for one, your pocket will definitely feel the hit and it makes Chanel a little less attainable to the public. As Forbes listed Chanel as number 87 of the world’s most valuable brands at a whopping 7.3 billion, Chanel is definitely not seeing a decline due to their increases. The good news is Chanel classics are seen as a major investment and they truly hold their value. Five years ago the Maxi Classic Flap was listed at $5,200 and today lists for $6,400! That is almost a 20% increase within 5 years! If you own a Chanel Classic, hold on to that baby, and if you don’t, time to get one while you can! Chanel prices will continue to rise, the only way to grab one at a discounted price would be through a second hand shop.
